Cosmo Week Is Here!

Arrival Of The Cosmopolitan

There are many stories around the creation of The Cosmopolitan cocktail.  Who created it first, where it was created, what drove its success?  Versions have existed since the 1940’s and served in bars across the United States in places like Provincetown, M.A., Miami, FL, and San Francisco, CA.  Did Ocean Spray have its hand in the development of this cocktail while trying to tap into the adult consumer? The Harpoon called for an ounce of vodka, an ounce of cranberry cocktail juice and a squeeze of lime, close to the Cosmo recipe, but it was missing one critical ingredient… This all changed in the late 80’s when NY based bartender Toby Cecchini sought to elevate a cocktail by adding Cointreau Orange Liqueur! The Cosmopolitan was born and swept NY and the globe.  Learn more.
